More than 40,000 runners are set to descend on the capital for the London Marathon this weekend in what’s become the largest annual fundraising event on the planet. Over £60 million is raised for good causes every year. The iconic event is now celebrating its 42nd year and it’s been quite the 12 months since the last one: months of strike chaos. The Euros. The war in Ukraine – all of which is set to be reflected on Sunday, with Ukrainian refugees among the runners, participants being warned to travel into London tonight to avoid the travel disruption, and England football stars Leah Williamson, Ellen White and Jill Scott set to kick off the race as its official starters. Machester City vs Machester United

As the Premier League returns after the international break, it does so with some massive fixtures. We’ve got two derbies at the top of the table, with Arsenal and Spurs meeting at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday before the two Manchester clubs facing off at the Etihad the following day. And, whatever happens between City and United, it will send a huge message going into a busy October. While the two teams are close in the table, the underlying numbers tell a different story. The upcoming Clasico may be the most important in years, as both Real Madrid and Barcelona are well ahead of the rest of the pack and the league could come down to the wire. This could be a six-point swing in the league should one of these teams win. Real Madrid has made a perfect start to the season, winning all their games. And while Barcelona has not been that good, they are not a million miles behind either. Thus, it is once again expected to be a great spectacle when the two sides meet this season. Barca will be chasing a win at home after a 2-0 defeat in Munich. But the timing couldn’t be worse for Barcelona either with the injuries of some key players and with October set to be a hectic month packed full of massive fixtures. Games against Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Athletic Club, Villarreal, Inter , Valencia and more are all on the menu. On the other hand, Bayern Munich is confident as they now won more Champions League games against Barcelona (9) than any other team in the UCL.
